I don't use my devices for browsing at all unless absolutely necessary, because it's not as safe from spying/hacking/bad people with germs.

The iPad discussed above is now used as my WORK PHONE! Go figure! My office phone died, but they have an app that lets your iPad be their brand of virtual office phone, even if you don't have a phone plan on your pad. WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF TOMORROW!

I use my original iPad mostly to order food, lol.

But on to the big news -- BOUGHT A NEW LAPTOP!

Another Dell (they give good financing what can I say). My Alienware will be in the shop for a couple weeks, and my other Win10 laptop is a brick, so I just bought a new one to pick up the slack. I had to buy Win 10 Pro separately and have to install it since Win 10 Home isn't enough for me. Now I'll spend all day configuring it and dumping files onto it WHEEEEEE (that's fun tho).

Dell G3 Gaming laptop. Not because I'm a gamer, but because they have the sturdier guts inside for things like video conversion, which I do a lot. Dell is finally trying to offer cheaper versions of Alienware machines.

I named it Vera. Not from any campy musical theater reference like Mame, but a stream of consciousness trail: I miss Peter Capaldi's Doctor, and I first took notice of Capaldi when he played a drag queen named Vera Reynolds in Prime Suspect 3 with Helen Mirren.

I came up with that crap in about 30 seconds. My brain is like a salad spinner.

Very cool. I'm trying to talk the company I work for into letting me have one of the new Lenovo A485's with the Ryzen 7 Pro. Mostly because I want to try and put one of those new AMD processors through its paces and see how it holds up. So far, no luck on that front.

What do you use for video conversion?

It's really just converting movies/tv shows to play on my Roku, so I use a shareware Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate. It used to be a great app until the last upgrade and now it's all changed and wonky, so I use the older version.

The Dell laptop is fine but I don't use it as often since I'm at my work PC constantly.

I like my work PC so much better for video conversion (HP 800G4 Mini) that I bought the same model for myself, and loaded it with lots of RAM and guts and storage. I spent this past weekend setting it up which is why I wasn't online much.

Now I can simply switch the cables out the back from the work HP to my HP after my shift is over, and I have 2 big beautiful monitors to use it with. No need for another desk/monitor setup.
