NBC is getting into television's superhero surge... with a twist! The network has ordered the new series Powerless for the 2016-2017 season in advance of its Upfront presentation next week, according to Variety.

Powerless is set in the DC Comics universe, but don't expect to see Batman or Superman cracking skulls and struggling with their alter egos, because Powerless is a comedy about normal people, specifically employees at an insurance company who have to deal with all the damage the superheroes cause.

Vanessa Hudgens stars as an adjuster who takes a stand against a superhero and becomes a hero to her coworkers, discovering that being a hero doesn't really require powers at all. Community's Danny Pudi and Firefly's Alan Tudyk also star. Powerless was one of eight pilots we were hoping would be ordered to series.
Yay, Danny Pudi! This sounds like something I'd like. Superhero shows can be too serious.

I watched the first episode of Powerless. It wasn't bad. It wasn't all that good either. I didn't laugh once (but I don't laugh much in general.) The cast were fine but they didn't really get anything clever or witty to say? I'll watch it again but it's going to take a lot to turn in into a must see comedy! Vanessa Hudgens was really cute and likable though.

Hopefully it's just because it was the pilot, sometimes they're a bit clunky.

Danny Pudi and Alan Tudyk are capable of being funny so hopefully they'll do funny things.

The second episode wasn't any better than the first. :rwmad:

Yeah, not any better than episode one. Worse, if anything! Just a standard dumb workplace comedy except they mention DC characters sometimes. Didn't laugh once, though Alan Tudyk's deadpan assistant lady was kind of funny, I guess? I'll watch it ANOTHER TWO EPISODES.

Slight improvement over the previous two. A bit funnier (not much, but a bit!) and it used the fact that the show is set in a super hero universe more effectively. Kind of cheap how people from Atlantis just look exactly the same as humans though.

Episode four was okay. Still some unfunny stuff and Abed's character is still just a guy, but Vanessa Hudgens is a McDuck and quite funny. Major from iZobie was in it, CASSIE.

OMG THERE'S MAJOR! Oh, he's evil! (but hot)

This show is better and I think I will keep watching it.

Jackie is my fav.

Episode five - Abed finally got a storyline. His character is basically Abed with more emotions. There were a very funny lines and Vanessa Hudgens is really cute. Still probably going to get cancelled.

Hey, they finally showed a new episode! The stuff with Vanessa Hudgens and Jackie was pretty good because the actresses work well together (and Hudgens is so darn cute.) The other characters just had some dumb random story about poo.

This week's was actually pretty good. They used the super hero stuff better than previous weeks and having Emily infected by the nastiness gas was a good move. Half of the characters still don't really have much, well, character and Wendy should be axed for being horribly unfunny, but it was an acceptable comedy episode.

Apparently the one I watched wasn't actually the one on tv. They showed another one due to the Syria situation. But the one I watched somehow ended up on the torrents sites (perhaps it was shown somewhere.) So I guss I have to remember to look for the other one sometime. OH POWERLESS, NOTHING IS EVER STRAIGHTFORWARD WITH YOU.

So because of last week's mistake I had two episodes too watch this week! They aren't bad! The first episode was perfectly watchable. The second one was probably the best episode they've done as it actually had a good plot relating to superheroes! Which is what people thought the show would be about! The green lady super hero is a good character. Emily and Jackie and Van are all pretty good characters at this point. Abed is still just Abed with more emotions. The black guy is just kind of there. Wendy had what could have been a good plot in the second episode but was ruined by her bad acting. She should be dropped.
