The Lightning

There was a time last summer
when I watched the sky light up
and
it was cool
just like the days
in Colorado
and in the Northwest
when I would watch and listen to the storms
But then
a fire started
and
things happened
and
we had to evacuate
and
then more storms happened on August 14 in Chelan WA
and further evacuation was required.

Now tonight
I sit and watch
and listen
the sky lights up
the thunder booms
and my heart is jumping out of my chest

Earlier we watched and listened and I was okay somehow. It was pretty cool. It was accompanied by rain, the weather has been milder this summer and we have had some rain

I want to like this weather
like I did before
always a reminder
that man is not in charge
but God is
Mother Nature is
whatever your higher power is
is in charge
not man

The sky finally calmed down
the moon peaked out from behind the mountain
and I decided to go on a walk
grabbed something sweet to drink
walked through the village
and then I found a toad
cute little fella
Now i just watch as the moon lights up the sky
and all is calm
