Today I saw an eagle pull a fish out of water, land on a dock and eat it while 2 crow looked on. When the eagle was done it flew away and the crows ate the leftovers. I was watching the eagle through binaculors. I know they are huge birds, but man this one was huge.

This is why Benjamin Franklin was opposed to making the Eagle the national symbol of America. He said that the eagle is a scavenger and a thief, and the symbol of several centuries of European mischief, which is what they were supposed to be separating from.

Instead, Franklin wanted the symbol to be a Native American bird that was the source of sustenance for both natives and settlers on the new continent, a proud, noble bird: the Turkey,

John Adams and Thomas Jefferson told Franklin to shut up, and then they all signed the Declaration.

4 swans returned!

They all left a couple of weeks ago and I know they have not been here, it has been calm and warm and I am really really sure I would have seen them. Then this week I saw white spots on the other side of the lake and I looked with my handy dandy binoculars and sure enough, 4 swans!
