Are you a "Review Leaver?" Or a "Review Reader"?

Post by Mirah »

Do you leave reviews of places you have visited? Restaurants, campsites, automotive shops, vacuum stores, game stores, a parking lot, the food store, your refrigerator?

Do you read reviews that people have left of a place before you go to visit it? Such as your own bathroom?

Why do you suppose people feel the need to leave so many reviews of every single place they have ever visited?

Are we the generation of "My opinion matters and I can make or break your business just by complaining?"
(I kind of think this is a thing-and some businesses are stepping up and listening to feedback and responding to customers online) Sometimes I think some reviews are a little ridiculous however. And I am not a review-leaver-unless I like the people, know the people and want to give them "5 Stars" to "Help" their business. (How stupid is that even?) Ugh!!!!! :scared:

Do you read a bad review of a place and think twice about going? Or does it just kind of make you aware that something bad may happen and is lurking in the corner?

Are you reviewing my post? OMG! Did you write a review about it?!

It depends on the amount of good vs bad reviews, also what they're complaining about.

Yes, I'm reviewing your post.

I mostly read, but I do leave reviews sometimes on Amazon and GrubHub.

I'm more of a commenter.

I sometimes read reviews but there are so many fake reviews out there that it makes them kinda worthless. Take all the reviews with a grain of salt, imo.

I leave fake reviews that simply read "help I'm trapped in a barrel!" at all the local barrel shops so that people will search every barrel for me.

I concur with taking things/reviews with a "grain of salt"
Sometimes I will click on the "reviewer" and see what other sorts of things they are saying-do they complain alot? Is it helpful? etc etc

One I found helpful was a person who had commented on the accesibility of the facility for someone in a wheelchair. I thought that was helpful.

If I'm prompted (like on Amazon, for instance) to tap on a certain number of stars or something like that, I'll do it. But mostly, I'm a consumer of reviews, and it's usually only for something I am considering buying that I haven't purchased before. I'm looking for reviews that don't appear to be of the "This product very good, make quick shipping and perfect fit!" variety.

I've left a bunch of reviews at Amazon over the years. But it's not something I do automatically.

But then, I've belonged to Amazon for about 20 years. I was Amazon Prime when all it got you was 2-day shipping.

I recently got my oil changed and belts changed. I was happy with the service and totally wanted to leave a review to add to the list of reviews already there. ( good ones)

Until they sent me a text asking me to review.
You can't tell me what to do!!! So annoying.

So now I've received a text from the owner asking if everything is okay. Lol.
I guess it is a good way to address problems if anything is wrong.

Give them a negative one, saying how they harass customers for reviews.

Also I rate this thread 3.5.
