I'm getting a new computer today. MORE POWERFUL THAN A LOCOMOTIVE!

I'm trying to think of all the things I need to do before I shut this one down.

Make sure my FF acct is synced.

Look up passwords for things not on FF, like the chat. Really just the chat, I think.

IDK

I am afraid to turn this one off and set the new one up.

lol

WHAT IF i CAN'T GET INTO CHAT.

What if everything changes and I hate it?

Windows 11 is probably just like Windows 10.

I've got it set up, but now I have to make it back the way I like it. :rwmad:

also I still have to download hexchat, and hope that I wrote down the correct password. lol

IF I AM LATE TO CHAT, YOU KNOW WHY.

I'm always late to chat, but I have an excuse!

The biggest thing that sucks is losing Windows Photo Viewer, which is replaced by the "Photos" app which sucks.

BUT...

You can restore the old Windows Photo Viewer in Win 11!

This webpage (with file downloads) explains how:

https://www.majorgeeks.com/content/page ... ws_10.html

It's worked for me for several years now, even after many updates to Win 11...

Also, this new keyboard feels weird. :rwmad:

onedrive really made everything super easy. The only thing I downloaded was firefox, but I probably didn't even need to do that. Having a fresh ff download did make it run much better.

I still need to get rid of mcafee. It tried to scare me with OMG YOUR EMAIL WAS FOUND ON THE DARK WEB! I think any one who gets spam emails has their email on the dark web. RIGHT?

McAfee sucks, but you do need some kind of anti-virus / anti-hack utility loaded. Do you have another one you use?

The free one from Microsoft. I've been using it for years.

That should be fine. I'm usually paranoid about these things so I'm all jacked up on utilities and VPNs and whatnot. It probably slows my PCs down a lot, lol.

Before I decided to use Microsoft's anti virus I read tons of articles about it, because I was worried it would be crap! It is much less annoying than the stuff you have to buy. I think they're all desperate for money, so they try to scare us with the dark web. lol

I'm getting a new computer at work.
I have to install it on Monday day, the deadline is the 14th.
I got a monitor which I previously didn't have and was excited about, but now realize I barely have room for it.

I don't think you can even find a new one that connects directly to a desktop anymore. They're all wireless.

Well, I got a Canon printer, and it does connect to the desktop. It also has wireless. I guess most people would be more interested in a wireless one.
