A mated (I believe) pair of ducks sighted feeding in a wet grassy area across from fire station and apartment complex for elders.

I watch the ducks daily go to a house next to the fire department, that seem to have something for the ducks to eat everyday. I gave them a good feeding last weekend and will probably do the same this weekend also.

We saw snow geese at the tulip fields last week. It was pretty cool. There were some jets going over and some of the geese flew away and then back down and were quite loud. I mean there were around 200 or more in this field.

I went out on the kayak today for the sole purpose of looking for duck mamas sitting on nests. I did not find any mamas or papas sitting on nests and I did not see any baby ducks.
I looked back at my pics from last year-and there were baby ducks on May 26.
And then I looked at how long it takes for a duck egg to hatch 28 days.
WHAT IS GOING ON DUCKS?!

I am sure it is a perfectly normal year and nothing wierd is going on and soon there will be baby ducks. I am sure there wasn't some city wide decision to rid the park of duck families or something strange put into the water to prevent them from laying eggs, or maybe someone or something stole the eggs or maybe the water rose too fast, but then I would see eggs floating in the water.

Well I have read up on this issue. They can lay eggs anywhere from April to July and usually lay up to 12. Once they have 12, they will sit on them until they hatch. Before then they may leave the nest during the day. So strange!!!
It may just be a later season this year. I mean I never paid attention until last year anyway.
