Why is the AC so loud Eggs?

My heater is loud. I was pet sitting last weekend and had to build a fire at night and use a heater in the room because the heat didn't reach the room.

It is windy, cold and rainy. BUT I LOVE IT! If this summer was cooler and not filled with smoke and fires, I would be fine.

It's a window AC, not central AC. It's set to Auto mode so it goes on and off every half hour or so. There's one in the living room and one in the bedroom.

I think I recall my AC unit being loud also. AND I think i recall that it was lovely because then I couldn't hear my neighbor. I have no AC now, but I am surrounded by huge trees that keep me shaded-I think this place will keep me shaded and cool this summer.

There is a fire here. 10 miles from town, but not close enough to cause alarm for us. Becuase of this fire I was looking at the map and discovered a mountain called "Skookum Puss!"
